We were honored to be invited by the VFW Post 1599 and the VFW Post 1599 Auxiliary to spend a special day with the students at South Hamilton Elementary. It was truly a privilege to share stories about the brave men and women who have served, and continue to serve, in our military, as well as the families who stand by them. During our visit, we also highlighted the important role service dogs play in supporting our heroes, both in their everyday lives and during deployments.
The children’s curiosity and eagerness to learn were heartwarming, and we were thrilled to help educate them on the sacrifices and dedication of our service members. We also took the opportunity to share the incredible bond between our service members and their service dogs—two unsung heroes that offer unmatched companionship, protection, and support.
As part of the VFW's patriotism through literacy program, the VFW Auxualliray donated eight books to South Hamilton Elementary, hoping to inspire the next generation with stories of heroism, bravery, and the deep connections that make our military families so resilient. Julie Beam and JAG from Bellacatio attended and read to the kids and explaining the vital role service dogs play in the lives of military families.
We were also grateful to be joined by Faye Rush, Youth Activities Chairman, Donna Hart, Hospital Chairman, and Bobbie Stine, Jr. Vice President, who helped make the day even more special.
It was a memorable experience for all involved, and we hope the students of South Hamilton Elementary enjoy their new books, which will help keep the spirit of patriotism and understanding alive in their hearts. Thank you again to everyone who made this event possible, and for supporting the next generation in learning about the sacrifices and bonds that shape our country.
